About PHD by Publication
Publication doctorates are awarded to working professionals in recognition of an existing body of work, rather
than at the end of a completely new research project. This route to a doctorate is also known as the PhD by portfolio or PhD by published works/published papers. It differs greatly from the conventional PhD by thesis. Rules apply to the type, the number, how recently the work has been published and how/whether they are linked. The number of publications required can vary depending on the length of the work, for example, if the pieces of research included are shorter forms of work, more items will be required to create a portfolio at doctoral level and length.
A Doctor of Philosophy by Publication (also known as a Ph.D. by Published Work or Ph.D. under Special Regulation) is a manner of awarding a Ph.D. degree offered in which a series of articles are published in scholarly, peer reviewed journals, books etc. to meet the requirements for the degree, in lieu of presentation of a final dissertation.
These publications generally should not have been used in another research degree and can include Academic Papers, Book Chapters, Monographs, Books & Media Presentations.
Procedures for evaluation and approval :
Evaluation and Approval are overseen by university personnel or registrar
office. The proposed candidates are required to fulfil the following criteria.
- Profile of Excellence.
- Industry Experience of Minimum 10 Years.
- Bachelor / Master Qualification.
- Criminal Clearance from respective country.
- Research Paper or Articles Published.
- Awards / Recognitions.
- Interview / Presentation will be taken if required.
Course Details
The course offers a stimulating and well-balanced integrated curriculum that places emphasis upon developing the skills and knowledge of those individuals who aspire to achieve senior organizational positions within their business or industry setting. You will develop your personal, professional, critical thinking and reflective skills to prepare you to manage, lead and transform your organizations.
The course comprises three modules. You start by getting your bearings with research, then learn how to engage with academic literature at a doctoral level, before formally reviewing the literature relevant to your proposed study. You are required to design a study, which brings to the fore some complex philosophical issues about what insight we can gain from the data we obtain. You then analyze and present your data in a meaningful way. Finally, you write-up your study in the form of a thesis and prepare to defend it at an oral (viva voce) examination.
Publication Requirements
The Candidate need to Publish 12 papers in Scopus or Peer Reviewed and Referred Journal and 1 book with ISBN having around 200 pages.
Candidate will have to submit these materials for examination within 12 months after registration if the above publications are published within 5 years prior to the date of registration.
These materials shall be accompanied by a commentary of 5,000-10,000 words, which outlines your work’s coherence, significance & contribution to knowledge and will be examined through an oral defense of your research, known as a Viva Voice.

Step 5: After scrutiny of the PhD course application form is complete then most of the educational institutes shortlist the names of the candidates who need to appear for the entrance exam and other admission rounds that are conducted for shortlisting aspirants for admission in PhD programmes offered by them.
Step 6: Candidates who are selected for PhD programmes on the basis of the admission rounds are then assigned supervisors/ guides for their PhD research.
